Armadillo officinalis "Spain Giant" is a large, cautious isopod species native to Spain. This species is known for its ability to remain curled tightly long after a threat has passed, offering exceptional protection. When groups are disturbed, they have been observed producing a subtle hissing sound by rubbing their legs against the inside of their shells, earning them the nickname "hissing isopod." Due to their environmental needs, they thrive in temperate and semi-arid conditions but are not suited for tropical enclosures due to molting difficulties in high humidity.
